Singles Bible StudyDate: Tuesday, January 12, 2010 - Tuesday, March 09, 2010Time: 07:00 PM - 08:00 PM Location: Scott and Chaundra Ward's home “I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord's affairs how he can please the Lord .... An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord's affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit .... I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.” - 1 Corinthians 7:32-35 Today, single adults are motivated by so many different things, like love, power, beauty, Hollywood, money, excitement, community. But what would happen if the single adult community of Clear Lake, about half of our adult community by the way, were truly motivated by “the Lord’s affairs...in undivided devotion to the Lord”? Beginning Tuesday, January 12th at 7 p.m., Scott Ward will lead a Bible Study and discussion on just such things. The study will be centered upon the lives of 8 single adults in the Bible, and the group will read through They Were Single Too: 8 Biblical Role Models. The series will begin with a study on Paul’s description of the gift of singleness. Then it will continue with a deep look into the lives of the prophetess Anna, busy Martha, and the young widow Ruth. Many singles today can relate to Jeremiah, feeling alone in a couples world, or to John the Baptist, always the groomsman, never the groom! Other single role models include Joseph and Nehemiah. The series will continue for 9 weeks at Scott Ward’s home (15106 Waybridge Dr., 77062), where drinks and dessert will be provided. Feel free to come early at 6:30 p.m. with a sack dinner for fellowship. Also, please invite your single friends to join you. The people we will study are so diverse, they are bound to truly connect to this series, and hopefully discover true spiritual freedom as a single adult. Previous Page |
