FAQ's for Visitors

When do you meet?

We meet each Sunday at 9 a.m. for small group Bible studies (Sunday School) and 10:15 a.m. for the corporate worship service. Check out our online calendar.

Where are you located?

CLBC owns 10 acres of land at the corner of Space Center Boulevard and El Dorado Boulevard. The main parking lot is on the back-side near Seahorse. Click here for directions and details.

How should I dress?

That is completely between you and God! At CLBC a suit is a rarity, and jeans are increasingly common. On Sunday mornings, most women will wear a dress or slacks and a nice shirt. Men tend to wear slacks with a polo or button down shirt and tie. Youth and young adults often wear jeans and a trendy shirt. Children tend to be a bit more dressed up than the youth! And of course, the senior adults often wear their finest clothing each weak! The sanctuary is a bit on the cooler side, so a coat or shawl is recommended!

How do I find a Bible study class?

As you walk into the building, you will be greeted, and that person will escort you to the Welcome Center. There, a kind, helpful person will learn more about you and help you select a class you'll enjoy. Classes are available for preschoolers, children, youth, and adults. They will show you and your children to the appropriate room and introduce you to the teachers.

Extended Session is offered for children 3-years old and younger. Students remain in their Sunday School classroom. During extended session, adult volunteers reinforce the lesson from Sunday School while caring for the needs of the children. Grade school children go to the adult worship service. Prior to the sermon, all Kindergarten through 2nd grade students are released to children's church (optional). They meet in the back of the sanctuary where an adult escorts them to room 114. Immediately following the worship service, all parents should pick up their children from extended session or children's church. Contact Keith Rogers for further details.

Is my child safe?

Yes! All children's workers and staff have passed a background check and been approved by the church. A safety system for checking in preschoolers and picking them up is in place. Please, only drop of you child in a classroom with at least one adult wearing a CLBC Cares Photo ID Tag. They will need to get some information about you and your child. Check out the CLBC Cares Child Protection Policy for further details.

What should I pack for my younger preschool child?

Parents are asked to bring a diaper bag packed with fresh diapers, baby wipes, and a full bottle or sippie cup. CLBC has a small stock of these items on hand for emergency situations or times when that is not possible. We promise to give them the best care possible. Please inform the teacher of any special needs your child may have. Thank you!

What can I expect in the worship service?

Upon entering the sanctuary, you will be greeted and handed a bulletin. In addition to the order of service, it will include a visitor's information card and announcements. We would love for you to fill out this card, and submit it in the offering plate during the offertory. The adult choir and praise team will lead the congregation in exalting Jesus Christ through a mix of hymns and contemporary praise songs. Accompaniments include piano, organ, guitar, drums, and more! Pastor Glenn preaches the word of God with boldness, love, and practical word pictures that help listeners connect with the scripture. CLBC has an open altar policy. If you feel compelled to come forward and pray at the altar during the worship time, please do. Following the sermon, an invitation will be held. You are invited to come pray at the altar or with a pastor. During invitation, you may come forward to speak to a pastor about receiving Jesus as savior, joining CLBC, or entering full time ministry.

How long are the services?

Sunday morning Bible studies are held from 9-10 a.m. The Sunday morning worship service is from 10:15 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Sunday evening services are from 5-6 p.m. (unless home groups are meeting), and Wednesday evening activities are from 6:00-7:00 p.m. (except youth worship from 6:30-7:30 p.m.)

How can I contact Clear Lake Baptist Church?

The church office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. It closes each day from noon until 1 p.m. Please call 281-488-3767 or email clbc@go2clbc.org to speak to the administrative secretary Chaundra Ward. She will be happy to answer your questions and/or help you schedule an appointment with one of the pastors. To visit the office, walk up the path between the two building. On the smaller chapel building, there will be a white door flanked by two potted plants. The door's window is open during office hours. Just enter the office door, and Chaundra will be there to greet you!

Who is the pastor?

Dr. Glenn Young is the pastor of Clear Lake Baptist Church. Following the service, he will stand at the back door to meet you. To learn more about him or our other staff, click here.

What is the Welcome Center?

The Welcome Center is located in the preschool hallway, just inside the glass doors to the larger sanctuary building from the breezeway. This is the first stop for visitors interested in finding a Sunday School class. It is the place to register for upcoming events or find out more information about Clear Lake Baptist Church. Pick up a copy of the church newsletter or Inside CLBC publication in the Welcome Center! Do you need a Bible? You can stop by the center to receive a Bible as our gift to you!

Is there a room for nursing mothers?

Yes, please ask one of the greeters for assistance. When you enter the sanctuary building, just follow the hallway to the left. You'll pass the parlor, library, and preschool areas, and then the room (well marked) will be on your left hand side.
